Jennifer Beedon Snow Linda Hodges Gallery, May 4-27, 2017
Seattle artist Jennifer Beedon Snow returns to Linda Hodges Gallery in her 10th solo exhibition of oil on panel/canvas paintings.
In this latest series of paintings, Beedon Snow continues her exploration of the suburban landscape, this time including work inspired by a 2016 artist residency in Iceland. The contrast with Seattle’s landscape couldn’t be more extreme, given the relatively treeless island in northern Iceland (Hrïsey). The residency inspired Beedon Snow to use more of an abstract language and brighter colors in her paintings of stark houses and other structures strewn across the Icelandic landscape.
Technically, Beedon Snow is using thinner paint applications of acrylic in addition to her trademark heavy impasto in oil.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Jennifer Beedon Snow holds a BFA from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Her work can be found in many public and private collections, including the City of Seattle, 4Culture Harborview Medical Center collection.
