Status: Fluid | Dynamic, a solo exhibit featuring works by Indiana native and multi-media artist Jason Myers, opens at the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette on May 10 2019, having traveled here from the Polk Museum of Art (FSC).
Jason Myers is no stranger to Indiana, nor is he a stranger to the national and international art scene. Museums such as the Polk Museum of Art, Cornell Art Museum (FL), the Mint Museum (NC), and the Museum de Fundatie / Kasteel het Nijenhuis (Netherlands) have all exhibited Jason Myers’ pieces. The Art Museum of Greater Lafayette has taken the first major step in Indiana by hosting a solo exhibition of Myers’ work. Indeed, this Indiana museum was the first to acquire one of Myers’ works for its permanent collection, followed closely by the Indianapolis Museum of Art. His installation, The 99%: United We Stand, to be included in the Lafayette exhibit also served as the entrance of Art New York in 2017.
Quote from Kendall Smith:
“I first saw Jason Myers' work while leading a [museum] members' group tour to the Long-Sharp Gallery in 2016. Jason was on the second floor of the gallery to greet us and discuss his works on exhibit. His artwork was so stunning that we purchased a zinc plate etching for our museum’s collection. Later, our Curator and I met with him to review his portfolio of provocative and well-executed works in many media and we invited him to exhibit at the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette."
Status: Fluid | Dynamic, opens May 10th and runs through September 1st. Myers is represented in the United States and the United Kingdom by Long-Sharp Gallery (Indianapolis | New York). Long-Sharp Gallery will donate a percentage of the proceeds from the sale of Myers’ works to the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette during the exhibition period.
