Featuring work by gallery artists Ron Arad, Anish Kapoor, Claude Lalanne and Nic Fiddian Green as well as new work by Christopher Thompson Royds, Blanca Munoz, Mia Fonssagrives Solow, Stephen Cox and Emily Young, the installation will create in minute detail the world and inner sanctum of a fictional curator of artists’ jewellery. Comfortable but institutional, functional but worn, the curator’s favourite works and recent acquisitions will be displayed in cases around the room. The rest of the collection will be found tucked away in meticulously labelled and lined archive drawers around the room.
Artist’s Jewellery remains, for many, a collection of disparate projects. This installation hopes to nurture a holistic view of the genre. Inviting the viewer to journey into the expert’s lair, Louisa Guinness Gallery will show, in a new and compelling way the depth and bredth of the area – the extent of artists who have used wearable art as medium of artistic expression and their successes in the medium.
