The contemporary art gallery Lyle O. Reitzel , founded in 1995, with main location in Santo Domingo and a new branch space in New York has been selected for the 5th consecutive time to participate in the prestigious art fair “Context Art Miami” - during the cultural chasm that is “Art Basel Miami Beach 2016” from the 29th of November till the 4th of December.

LOR presents a selection of deep impact with works from 3 generations of dominican artists, Jose Garcia Cordero, Gerard Ellis and Scherezade Garcia, the cuban icons Jose Bedia as well as Luis Cruz Azaceta, the uruguayan master Ignacio Iturria, the haitian artist Edouard Duval-Carrie and the american artist Ray Smith. Included in this show are unpublished works by the master painter Ignacio Iturria. These works are part of a new series that this beloved artist has made in the Dominican Republic.
“Context Art Miami” started 5 years ago as a fresh and alternative vertex space from the emblematic fair “Art Miami”, with a rigorous selection of over 100 international emerging as well as established galleries focused on creators of the vanguard. The fair creates a space that facilitates strategic relationships between artists, curators, gallerists and the art-loving public, in addition to a dialogue about contemporary art, it’s current state and the future.
Lyle O. Reitzel has curated a powerful collective with works from the biggest exponents of the Great Caribbean as well as Latin America. “The caribbean is nocturnal” says Ignacio Iturria after months of living and working in the Dominican Republic. In conjunction with the works to be presented we will presence the magic of the caribbean night, wee hours that covers the time in which most artists enjoy to create, is it because they find magic in these hours?
Context Art Miami will be held from the 29th of November to December 4th, 2016.
