Lyons Wier Gallery is pleased to present a selection of sculptural ceramics by artist Michael Boroniec at this year’s SOFA Chicago (November 2-5, 2017).
A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design (2006), Michael Boroniec has shown in numerous museums and galleries throughout the United States in both group and solo exhibitions. Intrigued by creating art at a young age, Boroniec took to ceramics as a means of communication expressing that earth is of the oldest material known to man. His sculptures link the historical implications of clay with contemporary fine art.
The artist will be giving a talk at Lyons Wier Gallery’s booth #1001 on Friday, November 3rd at 11am where he will discuss his philosophy on sculptural ceramics. In this lecture, he will uncover the spatial relationship of negative space and form and define his work of sculptural object vs functional art.
Established in Chicago in 1993 and now located in New York City, Lyons Wier Gallery champions contemporary artists whose conceptual content is buttressed by their deftness of hand. This is the gallery’s first solo presentation by Michael Boroniec at SOFA CHICAGO.
