In the Country, By the Sea

Madelyn Jordon Fine Art is pleased to present In the Country, By the Sea, on view from June 24 - August 20, 2016. The exhibition will survey paintings, works on paper, prints and sculpture by seventeen artists that reference the landscape and the sea. Spanning almost 60 years, the works will range in style from impressionism, realism to gestural abstraction, pushing the limits of a traditionally representational genre.

The works on view differ in style, medium, and era, illuminating different approaches taken by these artists. The works do not seek to merely describe a location, but to capture the overall energy specific to a place or moment in time. The impressionist works illustrate the artist's mastery of technique, while the purely abstract works communicate a subjective experience associated with that place.

Artists included in the exhibition are Rebecca Allan, David Kimball Anderson, Stanley Boxer, Byron Browne, Derek Buckner, Richard Diebenkorn, Nicola Dill, Tamara English, Elissa Gore, Adam Handler, Eugene Healy, Larry Horowitz, Larry Kelsey, Gary Komarin, DJ Leon, and Susan Wides.
