Join us at the NY Fall Show Art Antiques and Jewelry from Friday November 20th to Tuesday November 24th. With fine art lectures, the opening night preview party, and various art exhibits including Masterwork’s, the show offered a full weekend of activities and exploration. This year’s show will take place at the Park Avenue Armory.
On display are many works from some of the most renowned 20th Century modern masters, including Marc Chagall, Joan Miró, and Pablo Picasso. Miró shows his talent at printmaking by harnessing the aquatint medium and beautifully controlling the colors that he creates – contrasting and overlapping their watercolor-nature with blocks of black, as in La Fronde (The Slingshot), 1969. One of his most intriguing pieces is L’ Exile Vert (The Green Exile), 1969, captivating the viewer with luminescent green brush strokes which outline a smiling, mischievous face. Displayed is one of Picasso’s most influential Cubist works, Les Demoiselles d’Avignon (The Young Ladies of Avignon), 1953, widely considered one of the most illustrious, important, and striking compositions that launched Cubism into the forefront of all art movements. Joining his graphic works is a wondrous collection of Picasso ceramics, which show his mastery in every medium. It includes some miraculous works of both ceramic and sculptural quality such as Lampe Femme (Woman Lamp), 1955, as well as works that have us contemplating the intersection of practical and artistic, like Femme du barbu (Bearded Man’s Wife), 1953.
