Mercado Moderno is a design gallery focused in the main brazilian contemporary and vintage designers. For the fair, there was a curatorial work featuring the designer Hugo França. This exclusive collection was named “selected works”.
Mercado Moderno was founded in 2001 by Alberto Vicente and Marcelo Vasconcellos and has become one of the foremost design galleries in Brazil and a key player in the recent global reappraisal of and newfound appreciation for modern Brazilian furniture. The gallery also grew close to some of the major names producing contemporary Brazilian design and currently represents some of the most creative and consistent initiatives in the area, including those from Domingos Tótora, Zanini de Zanine, Gustavo Bittencourt, Hugo França, Paulo Alves, and Flávio Franco. The Mercado Moderno has expanded its global presence by way of its American branch, and is equipped to sell from its catalogue directly to buyers across the world.
