With these works artist aims to create a strong visual impact, which would be felt by the viewer and lead to various sensations, for example the kind the light causes in the nature - sunset or bright summer day.
"The memory and its modes - main idea of this exhibition. Each of us has many memories that cause us a lot of feelings. They often appears, influenced by the experiences that you feel at the time. Probably, many of us experienced the feeling of "déjà vu" - when you come across the feeling that what you are doing or seeing has already happend, even though this is the first time. This phenomenon was descripted and named by the French physician Émile Boirac in the begining of 20th century. Although, a lot of trials and research already been done in order to clarifies this phenomenon, but there is still no final version of how and why it‘s happening.
The subject of this exhibition - "déjà vu" memories and the feeling of uncertainty they are creating. The light has ephemeral, intangible features and links between inexpressible phenomenon of memory. This is an attempt to combine metaphysical nature of light with another familiar to us but hardly perceived phenomenon - "déjà vu" - says the artist.
Karolis Vaivada - artist of young generation, creator of the interdisciplinary art, who in his works mainly analise light. From 2013 artist‘s field of interest became colored artificial light and its impact on the viewer. In 2012 graduated from Vilnius Academy of Arts (MA).
