Michael Warren Contemporary (MWC) is pleased to present “Blowdown: Feeding the Forest Floor – new works by Meredith Nemirov.” This show will run concurrently with a solo exhibit by Denver-based artist Lorelei Schott and Maryland-based artist Margaret Boozer.
We are pleased to present new works by career artist Meredith Nemirov. In this exhibit, Nemirov presents 14 new works that examine the natural life cycles of trees. Meredith Nemirov repositions the trees from vertical to horizontal. No longer reading as traditional landscape, the stacked trunks and branches create visual layers. Nemirov imagines the pressure of wood against wood and the subsequent erosion, investigating subterranean activities taking place as a result of this decomposition. Meredith illustrate a world of activity happening just beneath the forest floor.
Meredith Nemirov lives and works in Ridgway, CO. Meredith first exhibited in the Front Range 35 years ago. Since then, Nemirov has show her work throughout Colorado, the US and internationally. Working with charcoal, gouache, graphite, & ink, Nemirov’s exploration of the beauty of trees defies classification – some works are figurative and very literal, some appear to be influence by pop imagery and are very graphic and others focus on mark making to the point of abstraction.
MWC presents contemporary artwork with emphasis on materials and process. The gallery also showcases many artists in the additional viewing rooms in the back of the gallery. MWC consigns an extensive collection of fine art prints from career artists practicing all over the world.
