Michael Warren Contemporary (MWC) is pleased to present “Artists of the Roaring Fork.” We will have concurrent solo exhibits by Teresa Booth Brown and Elizabeth Ferrill. Additionally, we will exhibit works by fellow Roaring Fork Valley artists Stanley Bell, Robert Brinker, Eden Keil, Sara Ransford, Andrew Roberts-Gray and Allison Stewart.

We are excited to showcase the immense talent coming out of Colorado's Roaring Fork Valley. We are honored to represent 8 career artists working in Carbondale, Basalt, Snowmass and Aspen. Each of these artists have worked tirelessly to promote the art scene in their communities and, over the years, each have exhibited extensively throughout the valley, the state and across the country.

Teresa Booth Brown splits her time between Boulder and Snowmass. When she is not working in her own studio, she is an educator and an arts advocate – teaching courses each summer at Anderson Ranch and working in the education department at the Aspen Art Museum. Her new series of paintings, “Bold” are just that – her oil paintings on panel begin with collage and then evolve as Brown layers color upon color, sanding down between glazes. https://vimeo.com/243922378

Elizabeth Ferrill lives and works in Snowmass. Ferrill recently returned to Colorado after moving to California a couple years ago. When she is not in her own studio, she works at Anderson Ranch as the Director of Painting, Drawing and Printmaking. Her exhibit of works are Rubylith prints on wire door screen mesh. These works are immediately recognizable as Ferrill’s and yet are entirely new.

Stanley Bell lives and works in Carbondale. His work continues to use his vocabulary of hallucinatory fragments to create an urban landscape of buildings and clouds, along with collaged cartoons and graffiti-inspired marks.

Robert Brinker lives and works in Aspen. With a background in collage and in printmaking, Brinker’s work always distinguishes itself with precise line work. His small botanicals are hand-cut from adult magazines. We are struck by the dynamic tension between the elegant compositions, the detail of his knife work and the surprise of the materials.

Eden Keil lives and works in Carbondale. Keil’s current body of work is about a pause. The paintings are quiet. Keil says that in an increasingly chaotic and visually saturated world, her work uses the landscape to explore notions of calm and invite reflection.

Sara Ransford splits her time between Aspen and Grand Junction. A ceramic artist, her delicate porcelain paper clay pieces always reflect the way she sees nature. The installation of her new small works depict crop circles.

Andrew Roberts-Gray lives and works in Carbondale. Roberts-Gray’s current works are luminous, abstract landscapes. Roberts-Gray’s process of sand-blasting, printing, and painting the mirrored plexiglass panels is repeated - adding and subtracting information until each work comes into focus. The results are paintings with shimmering surfaces, historical references, and the dynamic interplay of process and image.

Allison Stewart splits her time between Snowmass and New Orleans. Stewart marvels in the unique ecosystems of both Snowmass’ mountain environment and the low-lying coastal setting of New Orleans. A pilot, Stewart’s mixed media paintings reflect an aerial perspective of the landscape.

MWC presents contemporary artwork with emphasis on materials and process. The gallery also showcases many artists in the additional viewing rooms in the back of the gallery. MWC consigns an extensive collection of fine art prints from career artists practicing all over the world.
