Michael Warren Contemporary (MWC) is pleased to present “Drought – new works by Elizabeth Ferrill.” This show will run concurrently with an exhibition of paintings by Anna Dvorak in the main gallery and a group exhibit throughout the remaining presentation areas of the gallery.
“Drought” is made up of images that are all familiar yet under-examined peripheries of the American vista, with a focus on the harsh light and acrid mundanity of Southern California. The pieces exist as simplifications of the complex and paradoxical atmosphere of the public world. Ferrill explores public spaces with a sincere quest for beauty while at the same time acknowledging their tension, functionality, and ability to inherently make a statement about or behavior as human beings.
A native of Seattle, WA, Elizabeth Ferrill received her BFA in Painting and Printmaking from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. Ferrill achieved her MFA in Printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence. Elizabeth has had solo exhibitions nationally and internationally including in Aspen, CO; Nashville, TN; Omaha, NE; Peoria, IL; Reno, NV and Berlin, Germany. She was an artist in residence at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts in Omaha, NE. and has taught in the printmaking departments of the University of Nevada, Reno and the Rhode Island School of Design. Elizabeth is the Chair of the Critical Dialogue program at Anderson Ranch Arts Center. She lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.
MWC presents contemporary artwork with emphasis on materials and process. The gallery also showcases many artists in the additional viewing rooms in the back of the gallery. MWC consigns an extensive collection of fine art prints from career artists practicing all over the world.
