Michael Warren Contemporary (MWC) is pleased to present “Palimpsest: New Works by Jennifer Bain.” This show will run concurrently with a solo exhibit by New Mexico based artist John Garrett and New Mexico-based artists Angela Berkson, Ted Laredo, Marietta Patricia Leis, and Brian Shields.
We are pleased to present new works by career artist Jennifer Bain. In this exhibit, Bain presents 9 new abstract paintings. The landscape of New Mexico influences Jennifer Bain’s painterly space and the forms. The paintings reveal the layers and mysteries of the land and skies, while distant mountain ranges read as flat shapes with hard and soft edges, presenting simultaneously flatness and an illusion of depth. The paintings celebrate the shifting light sources from clouds and the implausible colors of high altitude terrain, and the observation of nearly indiscernible focal points.
Jennifer Bain has been a mixed media artist exhibiting throughout the country for 35 years. Her new work is a translation of the emotional states she experienced after relocating from California to New Mexico.
MWC presents contemporary artwork with emphasis on materials and process. The gallery also showcases many artists in the additional viewing rooms in the back of the gallery. MWC consigns an extensive collection of fine art prints from career artists practicing all over the world.
