BG BOOM: DUSAN RELJIN, EXHIBITION FOR NOTED FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER,
TO DEBUT AT MILK GALLERY OCTOBER 22ND, 2013
Exhibition will run from October 22nd – November 3rd in New York City.
Milk Gallery will launch its next exhibition, BG BOOM: Dusan Reljin, with top fashion
photographer, Dusan Reljin on October 22nd, 2013, with an opening reception from 7PM-
The exhibition will be comprised of 20 pieces, each of which are manifestation of the artist’s
musings on his past and present.
BG BOOM: Dusan Reljin is a project that embraces collage and color treatment.
Exhibition images feature renowned models including Natalia Vodianova and Laetitia
Casta. However, unlike the photographer’s commercial work, these portraits (set against
the ruins of a bomb-ravaged Belgrade) are sliced, blown up, cropped and altered to create
a new interpretive context.
Born in Serbia, the photographer was living in New York in 1999 when NATO bombed
Belgrade for 72 days leading to the withdrawal of the Yugoslavian forces from Kosovo.
Traveling back to Serbia after the war, Reljin took photographs of the wreckage of this once
vibrant and cosmopolitan city.
BG BOOM merges Reljin’s seemingly opposing realities into one visual form. On the one
hand is the reality of the current state of his native country and on the other hand are his
experiences as a rising fashion photographer in New York City.
BG BOOM: Dusan Reljin is an exhibition open to the public. To RSVP for the Opening
Reception, please visit http://milkmade.com/BGBOOM.
