Kate Hooray Osmond's first solo show at Miller Gallery. "Oversight" has required source images that she took flying in a helicopter across the Lowcountry's waterways and industrial lands. Bold lines, bright colors, and gold leaf.
Miller Gallery 149 1/2 E Bay Street November 3, 2017 6-8pm
Kate Hooray Osmond moved to Charleston in 2016 from Annapolis, MD. She was recently awarded the Griffith-Rayburn Lowcountry Artist of the Year award and completed her MFA from Maryland Institute College of Art. In addition to her recent achievements, she currently has a painting featured on one of the ArtPop billboards on I-26 and Abstract Mind at the CICA Museum in Korea.
Osmond holds a studio at local art incubator, Redux Contemporary Art Center and is locally represented at Miller Gallery on East Bay Street. Her oil and gold leaf paintings depict landscapes from a different perspective : a thousand feet up in a helicopter.
Oversight explores the architectural lines our city calls their own. The Ravenel Bridge, it’s surrounding arteries, King Street, and neighboring marshscapes can be seen in all of Osmond’s newest works. Gold leaf, oil paint, bright colors, and bold lines are signature elements of Osmond’s paintings… all of which will continue during Oversight.
Join us for an opening reception celebrating Osmond and Oversight on November 3, 2017 from 6-8pm. All are welcome to attend.
