The exhibition will take place at 1419 East Adams Boulevard, Los Angeles, California 90011, from September 17 until October 30, 2015. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. A tour of the workshop will take place from 4:30 – 5:00 PM. Please RSVP at email@example.com.
The qualities found in Martin’s new series reflect the distinctive textural elements of his painting, in which he emphasizes thickness and viscosity in lieu of identifiable shapes. Inspired by mid-20th century Expressionism and principles of Minimalism, he uses unconventional tools and pressure to manipulate his medium and create the uncanny impression of movement and gesture. Martin’s artworks flow between two- and three-dimensionality, effortlessly embracing both their painterly and sculptural qualities. The works’ skillful fusion of highly saturated color and hyperreal impasto are both overwhelming and intensely captivating.
Martin studied at the Chelsea School of Art and Goldsmiths College in London. Upon graduation his works were immediately exhibited in some of London's best known galleries and included in "Sensation: Young British Artists from the Saatchi Collection." He has enjoyed world-wide acclaim and recognition with major museum shows and gallery representation throughout Europe, the United States and Mexico. … For further information and images contact Edith MonDragon at firstname.lastname@example.org or 323 232 1158.
