J. Vehar-Evanoff’s methodical body of work carries the weight of the abstracted landscape and is exaggerated by the paintings’ reflective qualities. His intricate process of layering and subtracting paint foregrounds the textures of the landscapes they reference.
Salt Lake City, UT – June 16, 2017 – July 15, 2017 – Modern West Fine Art will premier Submerged Reflection by J. Vehar-Evanoff for June gallery stroll. A self-taught artist painting for more than twenty years, Vehar-Evanoff’s diverse oeuvre ranges from oil on canvas and panel to metal work. Submerged Reflection is an abstracted series of landscapes that foreground the texture and weight of the land by making visible his intricate process of layering and removing paint with varying sizes of squeegees. The opening reception will be during June Gallery Stroll on Friday, June 16 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. and will be on display through July 15, 2017.

Before turning back to the world of fine art, John was a successful graphic designer for more than 15 years. Born in the windy town of Rawlings, Wyoming, John now resides here in Salt Lake City.
