During the exhibition we will present works from Łukasz Korolkiewicz (born in 1948), as well as objects, clips, and drawings from Krzysztof Zarębski (born in 1939).
Even though each artist uses different media, they both share interest for sensuality and eroticism treated more symbolically by Korolkiewicz and often very literally by Zarębski.
What is noteworthy is that both artists touched upon this topic back in the times when in the official morality of the Polish People’s Republic all issues related to sexuality were carefully avoided, and could be explored only in hiding.
In their works both Korolkiewicz and Zarębski sometimes adopt the attitude of a discreet voyeur, and sometimes explore their own sensuality with exhibitionist indulgence.
The title "Dark Place Behind The Door" is the area of hidden desires and anxieties, sometimes also minor perversions, which regardless of the social and political system are pursued by "common" people in the so-called "privacy" of their totally common homes.
