Santa Fe--Monroe Gallery of Photography, 112 Don Gaspar, is pleased to return and exhibit at the 36th edition of the AIPAD Photography Show at the Park Avenue Armory, 643 Park Avenue. Monroe Gallery is located in booth #104. The exhibition opens with a press and VIP private preview on Wednesday, April 13, and public hours are Thursday, April 14 11 – 7; Friday, April 15 11 – 8, Saturday, April 16 11 – 7, and Sunday, April 17, 11 – 6.
The Gallery has specially selected a collection of prints by masters of 20th and 21st century photojournalism for the exhibition. These images have captured dramatic moments in time and illustrate the power of photography to inform, persuade, enlighten and enrich the viewer's life. Universally relevant, they reflect the past, the present, and the changing times. These images are imbedded in our collective consciousness; they form a sort of shared visual heritage for the human race, a treasury of significant memories.
Looking at the pictorial documentation of historic events we often get the impression that we are feeling the pulse of history more intensively than at other times. Many of these photographs not only moved the public at the time of their publication, and continue to have an impact today, but set social and political changes in motion, transforming the way we live and think, and bring home the power of visual storytelling, forever.
Monroe Gallery of Photography was founded by Sidney S. Monroe and Michelle A. Monroe in 2001.. Building on more than five decades of collective experience, the gallery specializes in classic black & white photography with an emphasis on 20th and 21st photojournalist imagery. The gallery also represents a select group of contemporary and emerging photographers.
Monroe Gallery of Photography is located at 112 Don Gaspar Avenue in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Gallery hours are 10 to 5 daily. Admission is free. For further information, please call: 505.992.0800; E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
