The Shapes of White : Sejin Bae and Yoshiaki Kojiro
For almost ten years, Mouvements Modernes gallery has supported contemporary creation. After «JAPAN!» in 2015, an exhibition where the gallery presented five japanese creators, Mouvements Modernes shows again its interest in Japan and Korea with two new artists.
The selection focuses on the colour white, a common thread for the visitor to appreciate the complexity of forms, the delicacy of the lines, the work of the material from clay to glass. Each artist presents a unique and original relationship with his medium. Thus, the exhibition is to be approached as an exploration of the possibilities offered by these materials, white offering a better readabillity of the shapes. Bae Sejin’s clay sculptures, conceived as small architectures, question the repetition in the nature, that the artist oppose to humanity. The glass pieces of Yoshiaki Kojiro expose the raw material, bursted in some parts. The artist uses his knowledge in physics to explore the properties of the material.
