Eschewing representation, depiction of the "real world," abstract painters challenge themselves with a unique language based on color, form, structure, energy, life force. Abstract painters some times use brushes, at others unconventional tools, chicken basters, sponges, squeegees to create their works. Some artists work on their canvases over a period of months, others over just a few days to achieve a composition that dazzles. Some artists aim for high color key, others for subtle, quiet, contemplative poetry in paint.
