Statement

"South Pacific" is an ode to the history of the Australian land and seascape that artist Paul Ryan's soul inhabits. The focus is English naturalist Sir Joseph Banks—cast as the archetypal Dandy whose grand tour of the unknown made himself and Captain James Cook eternally famous.
