In celebration of spring, New Concept Gallery has dedicated a room to showcase the work of guest artist María de Echevarría. María will be displaying paintings from her “Fields” series, a luminous collection of abstract works created with oils over acrylics. Visitors to the gallery will have the opportunity to meet the artist on Saturday, March 31, from 12 noon till 6 P.M.
When asked to describe her work, María said, "My paintings start from an intense need to paint. Nature, lines and colors spark that need. I have a tendency to eliminate details and to use a controlled number of colors. Several paintings are undertaken at the same time, applying layers of acrylics first, and once they are dry, layers of oil. I work on the canvas until the painting gets its ‘soul’. I feel they are part of me, and it is exhilarating to see them become a part of other people’s lives. I have studios in New Mexico and New York.”
María’s work has been showcased at the United Nations Headquarters in New York; the Salón Galería, Consulate of Argentina, New York; and the Palacio San Martín, Buenos Aires.
Of course, our permanent artists will all be on exhibit as well, and new work is coming in weekly.
