HOUSTON, TX – Nicole Longnecker Gallery presents “The Darker the Blue…,” an exhibition of new paintings by Todd Williamson, April 9 – May 14, 2016 with an opening artist’s reception on Saturday, April 9 featuring an artist talk at 4:30pm.
SYNOPSIS: Nicole Longnecker Gallery presents “The Darker the Blue…,” an exhibition of new paintings by renowned Los Angeles artist Todd Williamson. One of America’s most exciting abstract expressionist painters, Todd is just back in the US after a series of well-received exhibitions in Germany and Italy. Todd’s vivid use of color takes the viewer on a journey into a world of intense passion, beauty and emotion. Parallel lines constrain the expression, keeping them on the canvas and give them structure.
“In Wassily Kandinsky’s book, On the Spiritual in Art, he suggests the darker the blue, the more it awakens human desire for the spiritual. Todd’s paintings ask the viewer to look beneath the surface for his narrative,” said gallerist Nicole Longnecker. “His process, his lush pigmentation and his choice of colors unveil the story captured in his art.”
TODD WILLIAMSON: Todd Williamson was born in Alabama and lives and works in Los Angeles.
