This year the Nikola Rukaj Gallery is showcasing an impressive large-format installation of new work by Alex Katz the “Black Dress” series.
The “Black Dress series” has been a recurrent theme in Alex Katz' work, going back to his earliest, most iconic paintings, of women wearing the classical little black dress. The composition for the edition refers to the original painting "Nine Women" from 2010. "She’s not in need of embellishment or exaggeration. She doesn’t expect to have all eyes on her, although, probably, if she carries herself proudly, she will. And that’s just the most modern and wonderful attitude anyone can have." Calvin Klein
