Artist Nikos Vavatsis presents his new series of Faces. Figurative portraits with intense distortion, thick layers of oil on canvas creating texture, bold gestures and drippings, create a new approach to portrait painting.
Nord gallery proudly presents the new series of portraits by the Greek painter Nikos Vavatsis. In this new series the artist is focusing more on the facial characteristics that define our personality by distorting the obvious. A new color pallet is used, adding a "bold", contemporary element to the artworks witch is both interesting and intriguing. The artworks are powerful, even disturbing some times, from the small sized canvases to the 2 meter artworks, completing a full range collection. "Faces" will be on display from July 22 until August 7 .
“What inspires me ,is the human being. The human face and the plethora of its expressions as a record of feelings. Having a strong tendency to abstraction and through overlapping brushstrokes, I am trying to highlight our finite existence.”
«I have got an inner world that I was ignorant of. Now, everything goes inside. I do not know what happens there»
