Scott Pattinson, New Paintings from the Ouvert Series
Pattinson's thematically organized oil paintings are narratives of collective experience articulated through brilliant colour and an exacting spatial sensibility. His new work from the Ouvert series is exuberant and celebratory.
Scott Pattinson: New Paintings May 5 – 27 Opening reception Sunday, May 6, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. The artist will be present.
Oeno Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition of expressive and exciting new work from the Ouvert series by Scott Pattinson. Pattinson’s oil paintings are narratives of collective experience articulated through brilliant colour and an exacting spatial sensibility. Of the artist’s thematically based paintings such as Ouvert No 49, R.M. Vaughan wrote:
"Pattinson wants to show us the guts of an image by capturing the too-fast-for-the-human-eye flash of creation, that nanosecond of sweet indecision and glorious uncertainty that transpires in the building of an image, that weird, capricious and fragile moment just prior to the setting of a recognizable cohesion." R.M. Vaughan, “Third Wave Abstraction, Scott Pattinson’s Diffuse Materiality,” Scott Pattinson, Exh. Cat. (2016, Oeno Gallery).
Pattinson studied architecture and urban design at the University of Toronto and completed a BES in Urban Design from the University of Waterloo. Since 2005, he has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows in galleries across Canada, including a 2014 retrospective at Gallery Stratford. His work is held at Gallery Stratford as well as in numerous corporate and private collections in Canada, Dubai, Italy, France and the US.
