Open Mind Art Space is pleased to present "Naturelust", a group exhibition featuring works by five Los Angeles-based photographers, Archi Prudencio, Lauren Cetnarowski, Olivia D’Orazi, Laura Pierson, and Nichole Gawalis. An opening reception will be held for the artists on Saturday, June 25th from 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM, and the show will be on view from June 25th through July 23rd, 2016.
"Naturelust" is an exhibition of photographic works that encourages viewers to reflect on the beauty of nature. The artists bring together a diverse collection of nature photography that gives gallery visitors a momentary escape from the concrete jungle by taking them on a photographic journey to more serene places abundant with nature. The journey starts with the breathtaking mist-covered California coastline captured by Prudencio, then to Cetnarowsky's textural black and white snapshots of beach landscapes. Juxtaposing Cetnarowsky’s work is D’Orazi’s psychedelically vibrant images of flowers and foliage. On an adjacent wall, Pierson shares with viewers a slice of the woods, literally and figuratively, with her images of trees and hiking trails transferred onto cross sections of wood from a tree. And lastly, viewers end their journey at the desert with Gawalis’ captivating image of a colorful prickly cactus.
The artists of "Naturelust" are at varying stages in their art careers:
Archi Prudencio is a digital curator and artist based in Los Angeles and Orange County. His distinct aesthetic and mastery has lead him to advantageous opportunities in commercial beauty, fashion, and events. In his new photo series, “Above the Clouds,” Prudencio underscores the ethereal allure of the California coast. Captured at day-break off the Angeles Crest highway, the images highlight soft pastel hues of the still coastal landscape. Inspiration for Archi’s work stem from his love of travel, connecting with different cultures, family, and unity. http://www.lightwrx.la/
Lauren Cetnarowski is currently an undergraduate art student at Loyola Marymount University, studying film and digital photography mediums using traditional darkroom techniques in 35mm, medium and large format film. While black and white is her specialty, she has also explored color in relation to both commercial and fine art photography. Her landscape and nature works focus on the emotional and spiritual connection between her and her surroundings. http://www.laurencetnarowski.com Olivia D’Orazi is an artist and creative director based in Los Angeles, originally from Paradise, California. Specializing in colorful psychedelic dream imagery her work spans from photography to moving image working in live visuals/ projections, music videos, album artwork, and a clothing/home décor line, all taking inspiration from the counterculture of the 1960's & 1970's and her travels. Laura Pierson is a Los Angeles native. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology and recently received her Masters of Arts degree in Visual Arts at California State University, Northridge. She photographs landscapes and natural environments using both analog, digital and alternative approaches. In her mixed media work, she lifts the emulsion of inkjet prints and then places it onto small cross sections of wood. The wooden substrates then replace traditional photographic paper and transform each image into a unique object whose formidable presence acknowledges nature’s constancy. http://www.laurapiersonphotography.com
