For Art Basel Miami Beach 2017, Pace Prints is pleased to present new and recent editions in Booth F28.
Highlighted will be Chuck Close’s most recent large scale Self Portrait, 2017, a 91-color screenprint. Despite a high level of abstraction, the image is brought into focus by the rendering of the artist’s eyes, which gaze strikingly back at the viewer from behind his glasses. Once again, Close has created a self-portrait that highlights his command of the genre that he has explored throughout his career.
Pace Prints is also very pleased to present our first publication with the inimitable Peter Saul. In this set of four color etchings, Saul deploys his signature caustic style to satirize American culture, our current president, our education system, and preconceptions of “serious art”.
Leonardo Drew’s tactile forms in handmade paper pull the viewer into his work. On view will be Drew’s most recent set of ten cast paper works entitled 63P-72P, which elegantly marry gridded and organic structures. Also shown will be Drew’s monumental 59P, anchored by a tree-like form on a field of combinative silver and black textured elements.
Pat Steir’s hand-painted monoprints introduce gestures from her painterly lexicon into the printmaking medium. In a process informed by decades of printmaking experience, the artist made unique works on Mylar to be silkscreened on paper. She then applied broad strokes of paint printed surface, creating shimmering veils of color in loops, lines and dabs.
Daniel Heidkamp created a series of unique collages in paper at the Pace Editions studio in Manhattan, entitled Paper Cuts. Hand-cutting and collaging each composition, the artist reimagines landscapes ranging from the iconic skyline of New York City to the coastal enclaves of the Northeast. On view will be the lively seascape East End Assemblage, as well as Brooklyn Magic, where Heidkamp’s playful intervention of a neon color palette infuses the work with a vivid internal luminosity.
The booth will feature additional works by Ghada Amer and Reza Farkhondeh, Shepard Fairey, Keith Haring, Jenny Holzer, Sol LeWitt, Robert Mangold, and Erik Parker.
Pace Prints will also release a new portfolio of nine tondo screenprints by KAWS at the fair. An edition of 100, this release will take place only in our booth (F28) at Art Basel Miami Beach, and by email. Please stay tuned to our Instagram account (@paceprints) for details on how to purchase.
