The title of the exhibition Represent refers both to the act of representing and to the content itself of the representative action, intended as an image that is the object communicated to third parties.
The works of De Prezzo are the result of an action that copies the real elements borrowed from the surrounding environment and portions of his study.
His subjects transmigrate on the canvas giving life to faithful reproductions that question the spatial relationship between themselves, the observer and the observed object.
This first phase is followed by a subsequent covering operation, through which the images resolve their authenticity through a process of self-denial: thick layers of white enamel or solvent applied to the finished forms completely cancel out the understanding, preserving the integrity only of some fragments.
The large roller-colored backgrounds that go to overwrite the existing image - as well as the loose color - make the canvas an open space full of possibilities where nothing seems to undermine the circumstances of becoming.
De Prezzo reconsiders the relationship between space and dimension and poses questions on the dynamic use of the work, providing a new interpretation.
His is a quiet and silent gesture that transforms the eloquence of the object reproduced in a connection point between concealment and manifestation. It shuns the pictorial emphasis, seeking a natural conclusion in the absence of noise, which in fact reveals a mask. And in doing this, he finally invites the observer to a mute complicity.
