Santa Fe, NM, June 13, 2018 – Peter Schmid,
World renowned jewelry maker, will arrive from Germany to launch his all-new exhibition at Patina Gallery, Captivating Brilliance, inspired by the Santa Fe Opera’s 2018 production of Giacomo Puccini’s Madame Butterfly.
The exhibition will open on August 10th at Patina Gallery at 131 West Palace Avenue, Santa Fe. Captivating Brilliance will showcase pieces greatly influenced from the movements of Orientalism and Exoticism that were popular at the time of Puccini’s Madame Butterfly debut. For Peter, every piece is about the interaction of visual elements with earnest curiosity and inspiration. There is great consideration to how the jewelry brings exceptionality to the wearer and how it will fit the wearer’s body. His work is revered worldwide for its attention to detail, its fusion of gold and silver, his gemstone settings, and the fluid movement all his pieces seem to share.
Speaking to his personal artistic influence, Peter explains, “My intention is to be receptive to the world’s many artistic and visual influences and the infinite variety of stimuli they provide.” Captivating Brilliance is a mesmerizing translation between the boundaries of pure emotion and craftsmanship. Peter utilizes strict attention to the intricacy of pattern and an extensive sensibility to his materials and gems. His work, in turn, exudes an unparalleled ingenuity and brings an unprecedented presence to Santa Fe.
