Kathy Jones "Looking Forward"

“Looking Forward”, gets its cheeky title from Jones’ unique sense of humor. When asked what her favorite painting her response, “the next one”. Known for creating tension by unexpected juxtapositions, the works for the exhibition are painted with a color palette full of surprises. Jones’ figures are often seen suspended in a moment of waiting or transition which challenges the viewer to create their own narrative. These figurative works pay tribute to the human form and are distinctive by Jones’ brushwork, textured surfaces and gestural markings, all of which draw from the vocabulary of Abstract Expressionism and influenced by the Bay Area Figurative painters.
