Patricia Rovzar Gallery is pleased to feature Paul Brigham’s “Confluence”, a collection of new works in mixed media on canvas. There will be an opening reception on Thursday, January 4th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in conjunction with Seattle’s First Thursday Art Walk. The exhibition continues through January 28th.
“Confluence” represents the intersect of Paul Brigham’s iconic paintings of birds and the abstracted backdrops that he typically renders them upon. The birds are painted with close attention to detail, however they are not the focal point of the paintings in this exhibition. In these works, the representation birds are a component of the overall composition with some of the paintings eliminating their presence altogether. Brigham allowed the undercurrent of his abstractions to dictate the direction of how the works in “Confluence” would unfold and by focusing more on the abstract, he was able to express the ever-shifting and transitory aspect of nature which is the core of all of Brigham’s work.
