Barbara Stafford’s paintings reflect an abiding interest in both light and place. With lively brushwork and a rich palette her intimately scaled works impart a distinct atmosphere and time of day. In this series Stafford has painted landscapes that have a particular hold on her imagination, from the coast and mountains of the Northwest to remembrances of walks across England. Stafford thinks of each of these moments like a visual poem. Barbara Stafford lives and works in Portland, OR. Stafford studied painting at the Pacific Northwest College of Art. Her work has been exhibited regionally and at the Library of Congress. Her work is featured in the permanent collections of Kaiser Permanente, KFS Corporate, the Library of Congress and Oregon Health & Sciences University as well as on the covers of a number of volumes of poetry.
