The selection has as a guiding thread the miscegenation of signed, and anonymous original pieces of the Brazilian and International 20th Century furniture. The harmonization of the modern pieces of the Decades of 50/60/70 will be the main conceptual platform for the design of the spaces. This special selection will focus on the Brazilian Modern furniture of the time: pure lines, geometry, polished surfaces of Jacarandá/Rosewood, in contrast with organic elements and unusual objects of memory. Jean Gillon and Percival Lafer (Dec. 60-70), Jorge Zalszupin (Dec.60), Carlo Hauner and Martin Eisler (Dec. 50) together with pieces of furniture from the furniture factory of "Novo Rumo", constitute the main Choices to compose the exhibition.
"Located in a hangar in a traditional neighborhood of the state capital of Minas Gerais, this store-gallery features furniture and other objects, produced by both unknown and famous artists in Brazilian and international 20th century design. The search for original period artifacts is fed by an incessant pursuit of the good design, comfort and creativity characteristic of each period, permitting a constant renewal of coexistence with construction materials and techniques that are very rare nowadays. After being found, each object goes through a thorough restoration process, extending its lifespan and retrieving its original history, aura and beauty.
The hangar contains Brazilian furniture produced between the 1940s and 70s, interacting in harmony with a collection of industrial and contemporary art objects, forming a veritable “cabinet of curiosities.” The collection includes work by Lina Bo Bardi, Geraldo de Barros, George Nelson, Percival Lafer,
Zanine Caldas, Sérgio Rodrigues, Michel Arnout, Jorge Zalszupin and many other artists."
