Spanish Caravan is the title of a song by Jim Morrison and the Doors from 1973. While the Californian band was breaking thru to the other side, Spanish artists were about to break free from dictatorship.
Spain's first online photo-gallery www.Photolounge.net (since 2000) proudly presents a selection of masters like Francesc Català-Roca, Carlos Pérez Siquier, Joan Colom or Alberto Schommer. All of them developped their own language and style during the years of censorship in Spain, first dedicated to black and white photography and then also to color work. The end of dictatorship in 1975 then brought a breaking free which is probably best reflected by the avantguard color photography of Pérez Siquier. All these strong voices were clearly preparing grounds for a new generation (e.g. Miguel Trillo, Ciuco Gutiérrez, Chema Madoz) who from then on - in politics called the transition period - were able to work in total freedom.
