We would like to propose for this year’s edition of Artissima, the Dialogue section, a presentation of works by three artists representing three different media: painting, photography and installation.
The entire work had evolved around a project by Tomasz Mróz – a multimedia installation Sleep Sound in the Cosmos, the Turtle Won’t F… You. It shows a room with a bed covered haphazardly with bedding, under which one can detect a disturbing movement. The walls are wall-papered with a pattern imitating bricks and display paintings by Cezary Poniatowski – dark, amorphous shapes reminiscent of plants, which smile at us with an air of evil, as well as photographs by Szymon Rogiński from his series Poland Synthesis and Borderlands, which are in the mood similar to the Twin Peaks by David Lynch. But those nocturnes do not take place on the US-Canadian border but on the Polish periphery.
The presentation is closer to the dark nightmarish scenes than to a classical, sterile white cube.
