AT PLUS ONE GALLERY, THE HOME OF HYPERREALISM
We are excited to announce the opening of Volker Kuhn’s solo show. Join us for a glass of wine on Tuesday 5th December 6pm – 8pm. The show will run until 6th January.
Kuhn’s works offers us a humours and whimsical look into iconic characters, artists and sayings.
He is well known for his series of ‘Art in Boxes’ three-dimensional wall pieces populated by small "findings", miniature figures and animals. His sculptures are influenced by ‘object art’ and the work of assemblage artist Joseph Cornwell. References to Dada, Surrealist and Pop Art can also be identified within his vibrant and humorous wall sculptures. His assemblages are framed as pictures and arranged in boxes like tiny stage sets or tableaux. Kuhn's works are unique, skilfully crafted and imaginative.
Works such as ‘Homage to Magritte, the Queen is Everywhere’ and ‘Homage to Calder, swing’, offer a playful tribute to important artists. They will add a quirky & colourful boost to your home and make great Christmas presents at £300 - £1,500.
German artist Kuhn was born in 1948 and studied Sculpture at the Bremen Academy of Arts, where he was honoured with the Young Advancement Award, given by the Bremen Senate. He previously trained as a Joiner and spent a period working as a Printmaker, producing miniature etchings, which are now collector’s items.
This exhibition offers a great opportunity to view a large selection of Kuhn’s work and pick up something truly wonderful. His work can be seen in public and private collections around the world, including The Grove Hotel in Hertfordshire. He has shown in numerous exhibitions across Europe and in the United States, including London, Paris and across Germany.
