About
Statement
«During our visits to ruins, we always try to focus on remarkable buildings, whose architecture embodies the psychology of an age and a system. In it we observe the metamorphosis of the process of decay»,
Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre.
Press Release
From the famous wasteland of the Chapelle that saw the birth of graffiti in France in the mid-1980s to the multitudes of open-air galleries that still represent the many yards and abandoned buildings of the site, Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre conducted a study that reviews more than thirty years of urban art. It culminates in the gigantic building of the General Stores of Pantin which, abandoned since 2004, has become the playground of graffiti artists around the world.
