"Design of Disturbance" is the name of DANIEL MURGEL solo project for the current edition of ArtRio. Through watercoulored drawings, which are projects, the artist made interventions in signed design chairs of XX Century - the sculptures.
Around one year ago DANIEL MURGEL has been researching on the "Ofendículo" ["Barrier"] series. The word means an easily viewed barrier or obstacle aimed to protect the private property against invaders. As results of this research, the artist has prepared the current solo show, entitled: “O Design da Turbação” ["The Design of Disturbance"]. Following his creative language, the artist made a series of watercoulored drawings (projects), as well as the sculptures (accomplishment of the projects); after had selected famous signed furniture pieces (chairs and armchairs) from XX Century. Despite of the diversity between those furniture, this exhibition has a sense of unity, because all of those pieces, (drawings and sculptures) shows diverse forms of barriers, which after the lost of the ordinary use of it, their action is changed, when they become artworks. What the artist brings to the audience is an overlap of two kinds of "designs": the luxury and iconic with the hostile and precarious, or as the name of the shows indicates: "O Design da Turbação" ["The Design of Disturbance"]. The solo show presents a set of unseen artworks. At last, but not least, this exhibition seeks the discussion between the uses and relations of public and private spaces and also the interactions between public life and heart of hearts through the contemporary art.
