Unceasing Abundance - Chung-Chuan Cheng 2018 Solo Exhibition
A solo exhibition featuring the latest works of artist Chung-Chuan Cheng, “Unceasing Abundance” invites audiences and art lovers to savor the boundless expressions of the heart and mind, told through her wild brushstrokes, which are both delicate and turbulent at the same time.
Inspired by psychologist Joseph Murphy's "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind", Chung-Chuan Cheng believes that the richness of the mind is the world’s most powerful force. Exploring through her heart, she searches for the fountain of vitality and self-healing, incorporating passion and optimism into her works. The recurring vortices give voice to the thought that fulfillment in life can always be achieved after a series of dips and turns. They also represent one’s return to the initial passion that drives the engines of optimism, with upward strokes denoting positive thinking. The colors are bold, yet imbued with harmony that has come to characterize Cheng’s works.
Henri Matisse once said: "there are always flowers for those who want to see them.”
Cheng’s paintings feature flowers in different shapes and forms: elegant, magnificent, graceful, dignified, each blooming in its own unique way. Perhaps they are ways of depicting the self-consciousness at various stages in time. Her brush strokes are bold and quick at times, light and delicate in others. What is constant is the infinite store of vitality, allowing resonance with everyone.
The internal landscape of life after the storm is always unwavering and fearless. All of us have had experiences of being in the dark, trying to feel our way forward into the light. Looking back now, it feels as if flowers have bloomed on the road from whence we came. The bright shades and hues of Chung-Chuan Cheng’s works are endowed with the delicacy of poetry through her dancing brushstrokes. And like her many faces, they inspire fascination and profundity in each of us.
