Richard Beavers Gallery is pleased to present Ìdí mì wa lórí ìjókò méjì (My bottom is on/between two seats), the gallery’s first solo exhibition with the multidisciplinary Brooklyn based artist, daàPò réo. Known as a “Story tailor,” daàPò produces mixed media flags and textile installations that intertwine individual narratives with collective memory and composite accounts of events across space and time.
The Yorùbá expression “Ìdí mì wa lórí ìjókò méjì” translates literally as to have one’s bottom on/between two seats; a fitting description for his experience of twenty-plus formative years …
