Richard Saltoun Gallery brings the work of radical Austrian artist Renate BERTLMANN to Independent New York 2019. Located on the 7th floor, the presentation marks the first solo exhibition of work by Bertlmann in the United States, introducing this important Feminist artist to American audiences for the first time.

The display at Independent New York will also precede a historic moment in Bertlmann’s career: her selection to represent Austria at the 58th Venice Biennale in May 2019. Remarkably, Bertlmann will be the first female artist to stage a solo exhibition at the Austrian Pavilion.

Renate Bertlmann at Independent New York will be the gallery's first art fair presentation forming part of 100% Women, launching on 1 March with a solo exhibition by Rose English in London. Through a combination of gallery exhibitions, art fairs, a new series of digital exhibitions, artist talks and external collaborations, 100% Women cements the gallery's commitment to supporting female artists and aims to redress the gender imbalance that persists in the commercial art world.
