Chris Russell paints on raw linen, sometimes en plein air, focusing on both wild landscape and manicured, constructed gardens. “Ramble” is a tribute to the artists preferred mode of travel, the bike. For this exhibition the artist worked from a mobile studio he designed with a friend. They fabricated a rack for his vintage bicycle which converts into a painting easel. This exhibition will feature the bicycle studio setup in the gallery, surrounded by smaller paintings and drawings. The bicycle is a grounding point for the different landscape paintings in the show, signifying how the creative process starts by exploring outside. As Russell works as a bicycle mechanic for a day job, this show is a synthesis of his interests.
