This exhibition shows the work of 25 artists under 30 besides a selection of works by five artists over 30, in order to review the concept of avant-garde in today’s art milieu. It wishes to analyze generational relays, art market booms and the worn-out myth of the artistic coterie. During the late XIXth century and for most part of the XXth, the self-proclaimed avant-gardes took to the limit and refunded artist practices over and over again; in today’s art world, where the central themes of Modernity have been replaced by others such as precariousness, networking, acceleration, speculation, etc. it is not clear which can be the meaning of the term avant-garde. For the space of two weeks, the artists will inhabit the gallery space, making parties, talks and video projections; thus making public their everyday life in the studio while also trying to start an open discussion of the state of the art scene in Bogota today.
