I always present works of art pertaining life, hope and an optimistic view of the future. This is a reflection of my belief that life is worthy of putting all the effort we can, in order to reach its best.
As an artist living and working in Gaza city; a city which is known for its grief, pain, wars, siege and instability, I am determined to present my artistic work from this small geographic region of the world. To represent and convey the souls that strive to live safely and peacefully through my art work.
My paintings are inspired by the nature surrounding me and by the reality that I live in. I like to present it as an image that others can enjoy and try to do so in a different way unlike the common view about life in Gaza.
I always look at the elements of nature that surrounds me, which shape the decorative design that is vivid in my paintings. Flowers, plants, trees, birds and other elements of the nature that appeared in Islamic art, turn into simplistic and abstract forms. These elements became part of the Palestinian embroidery, but are drawn with silk threads as abstract geometric symbols narrating different Palestinian tales represented by each dress. For every dress there is a tale revealed by those soft harmonious threads.
It is the very small details that make up the wonderful and perfected landscape by the hands of the creative Palestinian woman. The Palestinian woman is my role model and the base for most of my artworks as she is my muse that provides me with the power to give. Every time I start with a new art project, I find her strongly present. The reason behind that is that I represent myself as a woman and an artist because I am an integral part of this society to which I belong to all of its details.
There are many aspects that can be developed in my artwork. In each painting, I discover my love and belonging to the woman who connects me with new places and time and takes me to a space that I love and would like to share with others.
Women do not only constitute half of the society, but the society as a whole. A woman is the mother, the wife, the sister, the friend and the companion in the struggle. I ought to greet her as she is also the martyr, the prisoner and the fighter. My new project is a greeting to all women entitled ((Long live women)). I focus in my project on the role and the struggle of the Palestinian woman who never left the battle and is always present to support her partner in all the arenas. A woman that proved herself in this life and challenged all the difficult conditions.
This is my life and this is what I like to portray within my paintings, with the hope to leave a positive impact in the hearts of the viewers.
