Nikolay Nasibov's exhibition titled "A Year in Life," held in April of this year, aroused a great interest among visitors, professionals and participants of the art market. In this regard, we bring to your attention the following exhibition "Reflections on Life", which is the result of the artist's ongoing creativity in the understanding and perception of various aspects of life in its various manifestations.
The member of Guggenheim Museum's Board of Trustees highly praised the artistic value of Nikolay Nasibov's paintings.
The artist's works are presented in many collections of respected private collectors in Russia and abroad.
"...Each of his works is an acrylic painted story. The artist easily changes tools, works with the back of a paintbrush or directly by hand, uses gold leaf and never mixes paint on the palette. For that reason the impression of his work is akin to that of an emotional explosion - one cannot simply pass by, one must stop and take a closer look, get acquainted with his art. However, is it possible to get used to that passion and splash of energy, the riot of pure colour and existential world forms?
Nikolay Nasibov works in different genres of abstractionism, paying tribute to both geometry and lyrical directions. Yet the secret behind his work remains in the multi-layered plot. Each work carries its own macro world - a brighter coloured panel that is visible from any distance. followed by a splash of colour and flowing bizarre forms. While the microcosm consists of symbols, figures, images of people, animals, fish or ships, sometimes of minimal size, so skilfully inscribed in the general context of the picture that arises a response or interpretation of the audience..."
Candidate of philosophical studies
"...Nikolay Nasibov mainly works in the genre of abstract allegory. The very size of his canvases (110/120, 120/200) provoke the viewer to stop and peer at the large colourful spot in which they discover various structures, as though looking into the eyepiece of a microscope.
This format is a kind of opposition to the visual refinement. Today we are accustomed to browing through tons, more precisely gigabytes of images per day on the small screen of our smartphone, without feeling their texture nor weight.
Painted on a traditional canvas, Nasibov's paintings give out a sense of a total physical presence. Not only because of their size, but in the way he uses mixed media; the use of gold leaf and a palette knife create a steady perception of materiality for the viewer. That is, the concepts that are presented, acquire a human nature. Let us also note the most important feature of Nasibov's technique: the artist does not mix colours on the palette.
Nasibov's works vary in style. Some are based on the complex interaction between colour and form, while the others - on the "primary elements" of fine art, such as local colour and the geometric composition.
The mosaic structure, the possibility of a kaleidoscopic transformation and the chosen genre of allegory present in Nasibov's paintings, echo the works of Arcimboldo. The creativity of the Genius of Mannerism is familiar to us. First of all, in the allegories composed of vegetables and plants. Nasibov does not combine specific objects in his composition. The interest in the movement of the line, the life of colour, the metamorphosis of forms, are discovered in the art of modern time. And Nasibov's creativity cultivates this tradition..."
