“I invite people I meet to arrange four pebbles any way they like. Then I quickly shoot a picture to record the stones' position. Later, I select a new environment where I reproduce the composition and make my final photograph.
The 4stones allows me to connect with people from all over the world, as I try to find with them a space for harmony and peace. This project began the day after September 11, when I started to collect pebbles on a beach in the South of Spain without even knowing why.
In this new series, I go back to the simplest expression of The 4stones using a light box to focus on the patterns formed by my guests. At first sight, viewers see shapes, but on moving closer, they discover textures, a balance between light and dark, and subtle shades of color. Perhaps, too, a sense of peace in a harsh world.”
