Chung Yongjin ‘Perpetual Faces’

Experiment in 3D printing is a source of artistic inspiration for many contemporary artists. Chung Yongjin encourages lights and angles to join the perpetual line of faces. It always starts with organic shape of an object, but he challenges the shape itself by experimenting different aspect of that metallic surface. As humans have different sides, his works have different faces. Each artwork is inspired by the continuous life of the object and its multiformity. His works are appraised to be the new attempt using 3D related digital processing in traditional Metalwork.

About Chung Yongjin (鄭用軫)

Born in 1965 in South Korea, studied in Metalwork and Jewelry for B.F.A. in Kookmin University, Seoul, Korea and studied M.F.A. program in Metalcrafts at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, U.S.A.

He designs his pieces through experimentations using paper cut-outs. The object that he makes is then rendered on the computer. This is then processed to be laser cut and then welded applying modern advanced techniques.
