This year marks the fourth consecutive year that Susan Eley Fine Art has participated with Art Toronto. In choosing the artists to feature in 2018 we kept certain criteria in mind: The show must be lovely to look at, cohesive and coherent, not crowded, but full enough to entice people into the space. We will feature artists who work in a mix of styles and techniques to suit a multitude of tastes and to appeal to institutions and private collectors alike. We will bring both tried and true artists, established with the fair and with proven commercial success, along with artists new to the fair to keep things fresh and surprising.
Our 2018 choices include Angela A’Court’s pastels, featuring domestic still life scenes of plant life and tableware; Rachel Burgess’s large monotypes of water and landscapes, highlighting coastal Maine; Robert Hite’s black and white photographs from the “Imagined History” series of mini architectural structures, set in landscapes in communities along the Hudson River. Abstraction will be reflected in the aluminum wall sculptures by Francie Hester, an extremely popular artist with Canadian buyers; and newcomer Lisa Pressman, whose rich and colorful encaustics will play well against the narrative work of the other artists. Concurrently, Pressman will be showing in our home Gallery in NYC.
